American’s Credit Scores Drop To A New Low

The FICO Inc. has provided figures which show that almost 43.4 million people almost 26%, have a credit score of 599 or below which makes them not suitable for recieving loans, credit cards, mortgages or auto loans as banks are now more than ever extremely picky in their candidates.

One of the many reasons for the slow economic recovery is the fact that many customers rely on debt to to fuel their recent spending. One mortgage broker from Melbourne stated that he has lots of business but yet is struggling to stay open, he gets paid for not giving loan applications but for closing. The figures reported by FICO is from the analysis of consumer credit reports as of April of this year. This shows an increase of almost 2.4 million people being categorized in the lowest of credit scored for the last 2 years.

According to chief researcher at FICO Minneapolis Andrew Jennings before the recession the scores which ranged from 300-850 were not as volatile. According to their historical data 25.5 million people or 15% of their 170 million customers fell below the 599 mark. Currently there are millions of people who are out of work and who are underemployed so the rate of people falling to lower credit rates will increase and would take years for them to build back a good credit score no matter what their score was before. However their are those who due to the recession have drastically cut down spending and paid off debts which increased the number of people with a score of 800 and above.

Next year begins the mark of the new health care legislation which will have employers having to provide employees dependents coverage will the age of 26. This new procedure will have employers already under stress after they are being braced for a 9 percent jump in their health care plans. Companies have now decided to raise their premiums on health care plans and set aside those or are ineligible.

With this soon to happen it is certain that you would be receiving a mail soon asking you to provide proof of your family which would include adoption or birth papers, marriage certificates, proof of any domestic relationships, proof showing guardianship and even proof showing the citizenship of everyone. According to executive VP of Budco, Dave Chojnacki, within the last 90 days they have seen a jump of over 30 percent instead of the normal 5 percent around this time. Budco is known for their dependent eligibility audits for Time Warner CAble, AT&T and Qwest. Even with Chapman Kelly they have seen almost double for the year so far for their representatives such as Avis, Volvo and Marathon Oil.

According to Michael Smith, CEO of ConSova, health coverage for a spouse on an annual basis usually cost employers $5000 and $1900 for those between the ages of 19-25. He also stated that employers usually find about 10-13 percent of health coverage dependents to be ineligible. The typically respond time for these letters providing proof are within 4 weeks and failure to do so will result in the company removing dependents from the health care plan.

Are Unemployment Checks Going to be Mailed Soon?

Citizens are being forced to leave their apartments due to the cut off or federal unemployment benefits. In San Diego, Kevin Landry and his cocker spaniel have been out of an apartment and are now currently sleeping in his car inside a church parking lot. While there is still hope that checks will be delivered soon Kevin knows that his $475 would not reach him anytime soon.

He stated that he would have to somehow make ends meet after his experience last time congress delayed their payments. Unfortunately Kevin has no choice and has said he has to learn to deal with the disappointment. During the almost 2 month delay before Congress extended the deadline for unemployment benefits almost 3 millions citizens had completely run out of benefits.

With these adjustments that are being made most of the time the system that processes the unemployment payments would need updating which would also add to the long wait for unemployed citizens. The executive director of the National Association of State Workforce stated that the states will try to resume payments as soon as physically possible, but how long will it be? Can people wait any longer than they already have? Some of the States have ordered those who are unemployed to keep sending in their forms so that payments would resume quicker after the systems are set and ready. Reports are saying that all should keep sending in their forms as this would ensure that they be amongst the first to receive checks.

For Millions, Jobless Benefits Restored

President Barack Obama measured into law the push back of the deadline for the unemployment benefits. The Americans who are currently jobless are getting their benefits back and could not be happier. After a vote of 59 to 39 made by the senate to restore payments it was finally done.

Almost 3 million people were at the edge of running out of any benefits. This was due to a failure of extending the deadline by the senate. Senate republicans along with Ben Nelson, a Democrat from Nebraska prevented it from passing as they stated that it should be paid off first. They stated that for the government to cover $34 billion is not something that would work in their favor.

The unemployment payments lasts up to 73 weeks and would start after the state funded 26 weeks. The benefits are divided into tiers and those who are unemployed would need to apply after every tier. Experts have said that the payments would be different as compared to the deadline on the 2nd of June and that it would take about a month for the state to resume the sending of checks.

Many people have gone through hard times and have missed receiving those checks. One woman, Lynda Kahn said that she has been out of work for a long time and depends on these checks. After not receiving any she tried to apply for Medicaid buy was unfortunately turned down. Currently she is receiving $200 a month from a local charity.

Facebook Founder in Court over Ownership

According to various sources a contract which is said to be signed by Mark Zuckerberg who created Facebook giving ownership to a business man from New York may actually be real. This was acknowledged on Tuesday by one of the Facebook lawyers. Lisa Simpson, a Facebook lawyer told Judge Richard Arcara that Facebook founder Mr. Zukerberg did in fact have a contract with the New York businessman.

Mr. Ceglia However, Facebook officials believe that the contract Paul Ceglia presented in court was not authentic. Whether or not the contract was in fact signed by Facebook founder is unsure. A lawsuit was made against Facebook and its founder by Mr. Ceglia last month on the claim that he was the one who hired Mark Zuckerberg to do 2 business ventures in 2003. Once was to maintain and develop and web application for StreetFax and the second being to further develop an already existing project which was made specifically for the students of Harvard to work with a type of yearbook function and the title Face Book.

The judge hears Mr. Ceglia and granted his request that Facebook be stopped from making any further decisions on selling or transferring their assets. Mr. Ceglia’s attorney said that an agreement was made which covered both the projects which Ceglia’s had offer to Mr. Zuckerberg and also a project which he stated he was working with on the side. It is obvious that with the success of Facebook there will be some confusion between the two and it is only a matter of time to hear the ruling made by the court.
